Brock Lesnar: Outrageous Extreme Rules Performance Proves WWE Rushed Him Back

Eric BallJun 7, 2018

Brock Lesnar was not ready to wrestle John Cena at Extreme Rules, and one of the biggest and most profitable stars was put into serious danger.

Lesnar looked like an absolute goon in the ring Sunday night, bloodying Cena to the point where they had to stop the match not once, but twice. This was not how the WWE scripted it and the lull in the action angered the Chicago crowd.

Lesnar wasn’t able to shake the UFC instincts out of him after taking an eight-year hiatus from the sport that made him famous. He has drawn blood on three separate occasions on Cena now and that’s not how WWE works. Doing it once is an accident, twice and you have to be incredibly cautious, but three times?

Unacceptable.

After the bout Cena grabbed the mic and told the crowd that he had hurt his shoulder and would be taking an extended leave of absence from the grind of the WWE. The WWE official site is “reporting” that Cena suffered a some-what serious injury that may get him out for a while.

With the lack of compelling storylines at this point, WWE can’t afford to lose Cena for an extended period of time. While we don’t know how seriously hurt Cena really is, there is no doubt Lesnar screwed up in the ring on multiple occasions in one of the premiere events of the year.

After making his first appearance on Monday Night Raw the day after WrestleMania, Lesnar has seen little ring work. His spots have been nothing but hype for the Cena bout. Maybe he should have endured a few tune up matches against Big Show or Mark Henry, monsters more his size.

The WWE didn’t think Lesnar’s preparation through and Cena paid the price.

Will this mess up WWE for the next month or two? Thanks a lot Brock.
