Fantasy Baseball Stolen Base Help: Tony Campana
Chicago Cubs outfielder Tony Campana is barely owned in fantasy leagues (5.9 percent ESPN, 8.0 Yahoo!), yet he has more stolen bases (six) than any other player in Major League Baseball over the past week.
For the year, he’s hitting .435, and though he has yet to collect an extra-base hit or drive in a run, his high average has produced an .893 OPS.
Campana has only played in eight games this year, but he does have six runs to go along with those six stolen bases.

The speed is legit. He had 24 SBs last year in just 95 games. He only had four extra-base hits and six RBI, however, so don’t expect much improvement there.
Campana is a player that will likely be in the lineup when the Cubs are facing a right-handed pitcher and be on the bench when they face a southpaw. He’s hitting .450 against righties, and although he is one for three against lefties, he hit .231 against them last year (.265 against righties).
I wouldn’t label Tony Campana as a must-own by any stretch of the imagination, despite his ability to pick up stolen bases. There are likely other options on your waiver wire that can give you more across-the-board help.
However, Campana is a solid option if you are streaming players for certain categories. If you have in essence a floating roster spot, Campana can be plugged in when facing righties if you’re looking for help in the stolen base category.
