Report: Oakland Athletics to Sign Ex-Tiger Brandon Inge
The Athletics are rumored to be interested in Brandon Inge since his release. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that a deal between the two parties will be agreed upon.
Inge, 35, has struggled mightily over the past two seasons.
Last season, Inge put together a line of just .197/.265/.283 in 303 plate appearances.

In just 20 at-bats this season, Inge has recorded just two hits.
Even though he's a question mark of sorts, Inge will likely provide stability to an otherwise uncertain third base situation in Oakland.
Scott Sizemore was on track to be the team's third baseman before injuring his knee prior to the season. In response, the team acquired Luke Hughes from the Twins to fill the void.
Hughes profiles more as a utility infielder, though, so it was assumed that the A's would have interest in Inge as an upgrade.
Inge has never been a consistent bat over the course of his career, owning a career line of .234/.304/.387 with 140 home runs.
Defense is his most valuable asset. He owns a career UZR/150 of 5.6.
The A's are not asking Inge to come in and hit 20 home runs, although they would like to see him hit at a level similar to his career marks.
He'll likely be a nice addition to an otherwise young A's roster, and he most definitely has the potential to resurrect is career in Oakland.
