2012 NFL Draft Grades: Teams Who Outshined the Rest on Day 3
With the conclusion of the 2012 NFL draft comes time to hand out report cards for a few of the teams that nailed Day 3.
The last four rounds of the annual selection process provide teams with a chance to add some unknown gems to their roster in hopes of maximizing on that talent in the future.
So who aced Day 3?
Check it out.
The Vikings selected a whopping seven players on Day 3, including a pair of big-time wide receivers from Arkansas. Minnesota took both Jarius Wright and Greg Childs in the first round, supplying Christian Ponder with some weapons to utilize this coming season.
With Adrian Peterson coming back healthy this coming season, having some legitimate down-field threats to balance their offensive attack will be critical in determining Minnesota's level of success.
After kicking off the event with a solid first-round pick in USC's Matt Kalil, the Vikings finished off a quality draft with a fullback, a kicker and a plethora of defensive players to work out this offseason.
Grade: A-
Arizona is deserving of a standing ovation after addressing their offensive line needs on Day 3 in a big way. The Cardinals made arguably the steal of the draft when they acquired Ole Miss tackle Bobby Massie in the fourth round.
Massie can step in right away if the opportunity presents itself, and help the Cardinals improve upon their frightening sack statistics.
The Cardinals rounded out the draft with two more big bodies to put up front on offense, and an underrated, prototypical pocket passer to put behind them in San Diego State's Ryan Lindley. Lindley was a sixth-round pick, just as Tom Brady was more than a decade ago.
Grade: A+
Miami had a huge fourth round on Day 3. The Fins took local running back prospect Lamar Miller, who has all sorts of potential as one of the most elusive and speedy backs coming out of college this spring.
Though Reggie Bush is already in South Beach, Miller can be a superb complimentary player in the Dolphins' revamped offense under first-year coach Joe Philbin.
Miami wrapped up the draft with two wide receivers. Michigan State's D.J. Cunningham and Nevada's Rishard Matthews are promising young players, and will have a chance to grow in the Dolphins offense alongside first-round pick Ryan Tannehill.
Grade: A
