The New York Knicks' playoff hopes were dealt a blow on Saturday, as guard Iman Shumpert suffered a knee injury midway through the third quarter against the Miami Heat.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! is reporting that Shumpert has suffered a torn ACL.

This is a devastating loss for the Knicks, who were reliant on the rookie's intense perimeter defense. Although they matched up well coming into the series, it will now be nearly impossible for New York to upset the Heat in round one.
Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! made note of the injury on his Twitter feed.
"Shumpert just fell down untouched with what appears to be a knee injury. Doesn't look good.

"
The injury occurred as Shumpert was dribbling the ball up court. After attempting to take an explosive step, Shumpert clutched his knee and fell to the ground.
He was clearly in agonizing pain as trainers tended to him. He was eventually carried to the locker room by teammates and trainers.
