NBA Playoffs 2012: Utah Jazz vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 1 Odds

Jeff GrantApr 28, 2012

The Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs will begin their best-of-seven NBA playoff series on Sunday inside the AT&T Center, with the opening tip scheduled for 1:00 pm ET on ESPN.

Las Vegas oddsmakers have established the Spurs as 10.5-point home favorites, while the total is holding steady at 207.

San Antonio earned the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference by finishing the regular season with a 50-16 record, and was led offensively by the play of All-Star point guard Tony Parker, who averaged 18.3 points and 7.7 assists per game.

The Spurs were 28-5 overall at home, which included a pair of double-digit victories over the Jazz as 14.5- and 10-point favorites respectively. Sports bettors may lay the number due to the favorite being 21-7-1 against-the-spread (ATS) in the last 29 meetings in this series.

Utah definitely has a tall mountain to climb and will need to quickly forget about its 11-22 record during the 2012 campaign. The Jazz did manage to register a 3-2-1 ATS record as a road underdog of 9.5 to 12 points, winning two of those games in straight-up fashion.

It's hard to imagine the visitor pulling off a series-opening upset, considering its 2-15 all-time record inside Sunday's venue, while the home team will have something to prove after getting eliminated by the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round a year ago.

Total bettors will find that the "over" is 14-3 in the last 17 meetings in Alamo City, which could be enticing due to both teams ranking in the top four in offensive scoring this season.

San Antonio is an overwhelming -2000 favorite to advance, with Utah checking in at very large odds (+1200) to spring the series upset.
