Kentucky Derby 2012: Hansen Will Dominate Field in Victory

Justin WeltonJun 6, 2018

And the 2012 Kentucky Derby winner is Hansen.

This is what we will see and hear Saturday, May 5 when Hansen dominates the field.

Dr. Kendall Hansen's two-year-old champion colt has all the tools and features to win this year's spectacle. Hansen has a great feel for the track, has the energy and the owner is very confident in the horse's ability to perform.

"

If we run our race and we go out in 47 and three [or 48], nobody's going to be able to get us. There are a lot of doubters on that last eighth-mile but Hansen has not even been breathing hard after the last four races. We've had to pull him up because he wants to go around the track again.

"

Hansen will be up against steep competition, however. There will be several competitors for the crown, but Dr. Kendall Hansen isn't afraid of his horse's ability to compete against the best.

"We're really not scared of anybody, if you can believe that," said Hansen according to Gene Kershner of Buffalonews.com.

I believe him, and you should to.

Hansen is a talented horse that has experienced success at races in the past. At 14-to-1 odds, Hansen isn't expected to win the Kentucky Derby, but the favorites tend to never end up where we expect them.

It's all about the horse nobody expected; the long-shot. Hansen isn't expected to win, but Dr. Kendall Hansen truly believes his horse will shine under the pressure.

I'm thinking the same thing.
