NFL Draft 2012 Results: Biggest Steals of Day 2

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

The 2012 NFL draft has been one of the most exciting drafts in years, just because it's been so unpredictable. It began with a multitude of trades and continued with shocking picks and some great steals.

Speaking of steals, Day 2 had plenty of them, all the way through the third round. Here's a look at the five greatest robberies in the second and third rounds.

Indianapolis Colts, No. 64 overall: Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson

Dwayne Allen was considered one of the best tight ends headed into the draft. The Colts get a steal here, and now they have two young options at tight end for young quarterback Andrew Luck. They are setting him up to succeed. Remember, Reggie Wayne is still in Indianapolis.

Atlanta Falcons, No. 55: Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin

Peter Konz has the size, strength, intelligence and focus to be a starter in no time in the NFL. He was a legit first-round prospect heading into the draft, and the Falcons are going to be mighty happy with him. Frankly, I'm surprised he fell this far.

New York Giants, No. 63: Rueben Randle, WR, LSU

Rueben Randle has tons of potential with his quickness, athleticism and fluidity. He was a legit first-round pick, and he may make up for the departure of Mario Manningham in due time. He still needs to grow, but his potential alone is worth a first-round pick.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers, No. 58: Lavonte David, OLB, Nebraska

A very instinctive, alert player, Lavonte David was being pegged in the first round by some draft experts. He's not the most explosive player, but his awareness and intelligence allow him to cover a lot of ground quickly, and he's a very dependable tackler.

Cincinnati Bengals, No. 83: Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers

And the greatest steal of Day 2...Mohamed Sanu, wide receiver, Rutgers. There is no doubt in my mind that Mohamed Sanu will become a solid receiver in the NFL. There are questions about his speed, which is probably why he dropped this far, but he has everything else you want in a receiver: strength, the ability to go up the middle, leadership, work ethic, leaping ability and explosiveness after the catch. Watch out for this kid in the NFL, especially with Andy Dalton throwing him the ball.
