World Football Transfer Rumours: Top 10 Blockbuster Deals That Will Happen

Bimersha GautamJun 7, 2018

Arsenal seek to usher in Invincible II. Manchester United will seek to bolster their squad and compete in Europe. The likes of Chelsea and Manchester City will also spend profusely. Barcelona will seek to fix some chinks in the armor, whilst Real Madrid might also make a "Galactico" signing.

This can only mean one thing—a heated transfer window. Numerous clubs looking to procure, a variety of talent available.

Here are the top 10 blockbuster deals that will go down this summer.

Shinji Kagawa to Manchester United

1 of 10

Shinji Kagawa has been one of my favourite players in the Bundesliga for the past two years. He has been instrumental for them in their title win last year, and he has put in splendid performances this year as well.

However, the Japanese has refused to sign an extension for the next season, so he will be on his way out.

Kagawa has been linked to Manchester United several times, and the Red Devils are probably the favourites to obtain his signature.

Kagawa plays as an attacking central midfielder for the Borussia outfit, and it would be interesting to see how he would fit into the 4-4-2 formation that Sir Alex Ferguson generally employs.

Perhaps a shift towards a 4-2-3-1 formation might be likely with Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick occupying the holding positions, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young/Nani on the wings, Kagawa in the center and Wayne Rooney leading the charge might work.

However, it would hurt the development of the both Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck.

I cannot grasp how he would fit in with United, but having such a player at your disposal is certainly a worthwhile investment. He also allows United to tap into the lucrative Japanese Market.

Edinson Cavani to Chelsea

2 of 10

If Didier Drogba departs this summer, Chelsea will indeed need to bring in another quality striker.

Edinson Cavani might just be the answer, as he has been brilliant all season for Napoli. His finishing is superb, and he also does not shrug his defensive duties.

23 goals from 31 matches in the Serie A and five goals in eight matches in the Champions League is certainly an impressive feat.

Although the Uruguayan hitman is on contract till 2015, Roman Abramovic has indicated a strong interest in striker, and he might be on his way to Chelsea.

Gareth Bale to Barcelona

3 of 10

From title contenders, Tottenham are now competing for the fourth place. Newcastle are in great form now, having recently defeated Chelsea, and might push them for the last Champions League place.

Should Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League, the club might witness a mass exodus of their players. One such candidate is Gareth Bale.

In an interview with BBC’s Football Focus, Bale stated:

"

If you are talking about Barcelona or Real Madrid, two of the biggest clubs in the world...it's a once-in-a-lifetime dream.... If you said to any young player that you could play for Barcelona or Real would they turn it down? Probably not.

"

Barcelona are the strong favourites for his signature as they have demonstrated quite some interest in the Welshman. He might fit in well in a full-back position as akin to Dani Alves, constantly marauding down the flanks and providing support.

Neymar to Europe

4 of 10

I think it is time for Neymar to enter Europe.

However, a lot of hype surrounding the Brazilian has certainly inflated the transfer market. This has probably placed a lot of unneeded pressure on the youngster as well.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Barcelona are all interested in the Brazilian, and this might be the season he finally makes his way to Europe.

Jan Vertonghen to Arsenal

5 of 10

Ajax center-back Jan Vertonghen has bestowed a high level of praise upon Arsenal, stating:

"

Arsenal are a magnificent club and I hear a lot of good things about English football.... If a club of Arsenal's calibre can reach agreement with Ajax, then I will gladly go over.

"

He is close friends with fellow Belgian Thomas Vermaelen, and he might form a strong partnership with him at the heart of defence.

However, Arsenal have three magnificent central defenders in Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker. Unless he can specialize in the left-back position, it would be a shoddy transfer in my opinion.

Nuri Sahin to Anywhere

6 of 10

Nuri Sahin was one of Bundesliga’s best talents. After his return to Borussia Dortmund, he played an instrumental role in the 2010-11 season and helped Dortmund to the title. Subsequently, he was voted the best player of the season.

Such consistency garnered a lot of interest, and Real Madrid swooped in and signed the Turk. However, a move to the Spanish giants has seen him being resigned to the bench, and he has only appeared a total of nine times in all competitions this season.

Madrid might also be keen on offloading him if the right offer comes along. He would be an incredible asset for any team. He can occupy a deeper role in midfield and spread passes around with precision, and he is also very effective in taking set-pieces.

Eden Hazard to Manchester

7 of 10

In most likelihood, Eden Hazard will quit his French Ligue club Lille in order to move to the Premier League. He has already banished rumours linking him to either Real Madrid or Barcelona, stating, “My objective is to go to the Premier League, because I have had my time in France”.

The playmaker was at the Etihad to witness the derby between the two Manchester clubs the previous week. Both Manchester City and Manchester United are vying to sign him.

Both Sir Alex Ferguson and United scout Martin Ferguson have been to Lille to witness the Belgian, but so has City’s football development executive Patrick Viera

However, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal have also indicated interest in the wizard, and only time will tell where he will end up.

Jordi Alba to Barcelona

8 of 10

Barcelona have severe defensive problems, and this fragility has been exploited. Barcelona are surely seeking to bolster their defence, and their first priority must be the left-back position.

Eric Abidal is injured mostly, and he is also getting old. His best years might be behind him already. Therefore, it makes sense to bring in an experienced left-back like Jordi Alba. He has been in superb form for Valencia and Spain.

He contributes well in attack and matches it with defensive solidity of the highest degree.

Rumours are present that Barcelona have inquired about the possibility of acquiring Jordi Alba and might make him their highest priority.

His release contract currently stands at €20m.

Luka Modric to Chelsea or Manchester United

9 of 10

Like Gareth Bale, Luka Modric might look to force a transfer if Tottenham indeed do fail to qualify for the Champions League.

But, this time around, Manchester United have also shown a strong level of interest in acquiring the creative playmaker.

Modric is at the prime of his career and would fit in perfectly with the United squad, settling in where Paul Scholes used to/still plays. If United manage to get hold of Modric, he would certainly add a level of panache that has gone missing from the United midfield.

Yann M’Vila to Arsenal

10 of 10

Yann M'Vila is certainly one of the best midfielders out there with loads of talent.

He operates as a defensive midfielder with excellent defensive abilities, impressive physical abilities, and he can pick out passes with relative ease.

Arsene Wenger reportedly has shown a lot of interest in the player, and he might be making his way into the Emirates this season.

This will allow Alex Song to operate further and express his creativity and link up with Robin van Persie. Hence it would be an astute signing for the Gunners.
