Arsenal FC: Carlos Vela Will Fight Arsene Wenger to Be Permanently Done

Christopher HallApr 26, 2012

Carlos Vela says he has no intention of returning to Arsenal when his current loan deal at Real Sociedad ends this summer—and he will fight to make sure it doesn't happen.

Unable to claim a place in Wenger's starting lineup, the Mexican striker has been consistently loaned away from the Emirates.

Now another period away is coming to an end and Vela says he wants done with the Gunners once and for all.

In a conversation with Marca, Vela acknowledged that the final decision lay with Wenger, but had this to say nonetheless:

"If [Wenger] tells me I have to leave then I will look at my options. If he says I will stay then I will fight him. My intention is not to return to Arsenal."

Vela joined Arsenal in January 2008 and immediately went out on loan to Osasuna due to work permit issues in England.

His most successful stint with the Gunners came the next season when he made 29 appearances and scored six goals, including a memorable hat-trick against Sheffield United in the Carling Cup.

But the past two seasons have seen Vela wither on the substitutes' bench when in residence at the Emirates.

At Sociedad, the forward has proven a loan star by tallying 11 goals and six assists in 31 appearances.

During his four seasons on the books at Arsenal, Vela has managed the same number of goals in 62 appearances.

The striker says he doesn't know whether he will be able to remain at the La Liga club at the end of his loan deal, but says he is "having a very good time."
