Rey Mysterio Suspended by the WWE Following Second Violation

Chris HumphreyJun 2, 2018

Following the suspension of other notable WWE high-flyer Evan Bourne due to the company’s wellness policy, the company issued a statement today that former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion, Rey Mysterio, has been suspended 60 days for violation of the aforementioned wellness policy.

Here’s the quote from WWE.com on the suspension of Mysterio:

"

In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Oscar Gutierrez (Rey Mysterio) for 60 days effective Thursday, April 26 for his second violation of the company's policy.

In August of 2009, Mysterio was suspended from the WWE in his first violation of the company’s wellness policy after not being able to produce a subscription for a drug to help alleviate pain in his arm and knee.

Outside of an appearance at the Slammy Awards last December, we have not seen Mysterio in action on WWE television in nearly a year after suffering an injury during a match at a house show with Alberto Del Rio.

Following this announcement today combined with his recent bouts with injuries, I believe this might be the end of the line for Mysterio, as he is skating on drastically thin ice with two violations already against him and a third ending his career in the WWE.

Even if Mysterio remains with the company, you’d have to believe he will be left out of the main event scene after he returns from suspension later this summer and moving forward into the remainder of 2012.

With his second violation and suspension from the WWE, do you think this is the end of the road for Mysterio in the company, or will we see him return to the WWE following the suspension?
