Andrew Luck: Players Indianapolis Colts Must Draft to Help No. 1 Pick Succeed

Alex KayApr 26, 2012

The Indianapolis Colts are going to take Andrew Luck with the No. 1 overall pick; that’s a given and a known fact at this point.

What they need to focus on now is the latter portion of the draft , where they can find some good, young skill-position players to make Luck’s transition from college signal-caller to NFL franchise QB much easier.

Here are some players they should target in Rounds 2 and beyond in the 2012 NFL draft.

Round 2, Pick 2: Coby Fleener

How perfect would it be for the Colts to take this extremely athletic and speedy TE with their second-round pick?

Fleener was Luck’s tight end at Stanford, and the two already have incredible rapport. He would instantly become a top weapon in Indianapolis and someone the team could lean on when they needed to make a play.

Round 3, Pick 1: Mohamed Sanu

Sanu was a borderline first-round pick before he scared some scouts with a subpar 40-yard dash time.

He’s going to be an impact football player, and he's a nice value at the start of the third round.

The Rutgers product has great hands, can run solid routes and will grow to become a reliable target for Luck if the Colts select him.

Round 6, Pick 2: Greg Childs

The Arkansas wide receiver has great size, runs clean routes, and possesses the necessary agility, hands and blocking ability for an NFL wideout. He’s a perfect late-round pick for the Colts, as they definitely need to add more receivers to both help Luck and bolster their depth.

Childs is an extremely talented player this late and a good locker room guy to boot. It would just make sense for the organization to put the horseshoe on this kid.
