Day 1 Surprises

7. Jacksonville Jaguars—Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina

With talk about Jacksonville possibly moving back in the first round, there is some doubt that the Jaguars know who they will be aiming for this early. If the pick comes to them and no deal gets done, they will take the safest player on their board and that is star cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

12. Seattle Seahawks—Nick Perry, OLB, USC

While several draft experts have Nick Perry as a second-round pick, Pete Carroll needs a serious pass rusher and he knows all about USC stay Nick Perry. With an outside linebacker helping disrupt the opponent’s pass game, the Seahawks secondary will have more time to thrive. It’s a stretch, but well worth it.

14. Dallas CowboysMark Barron, S, Alabama

While many scouts had Alabama safety Mark Barron as an early second-round pick or a late first-round pick, the consensus is starting to shift to the idea that Dallas could snag him at No. 14 overall. Barron is a gifted player, but there are questions about how his abilities will transfer to the NFL.
