Jeff GrantJun 7, 2018

The Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox will open up a four-game American League series on Thursday night at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, with the first pitch scheduled for 8:10 ET.

Las Vegas oddsmakers have established the White Sox as -130 home favorites, as starting pitcher Philip Humber will make his first start since becoming a major part of baseball history against the Seattle Mariners last Saturday.ย

Humber (1-0, 0.63 ERA) managed to pitch the 21st perfect game in MLB history, throwing an economical 95 pitches in the effort, while striking out nine batters. He has allowed just one run in 14.1 combined innings over his first two starts of the 2012 campaign.

The right-hander has compiled an even 1-1 record and 5.84 ERA in two career starts versus the Red Sox, but was handed a 10-2 loss in his only home outing in the series on July 30, 2011. He allowed four runs and six hits in just 4.2 innings of work.

The White Sox are 1-7 in Humber's last eight home starts, while the "over" is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams.

Boston will counter with Felix Doubront (0-0, 3.94 ERA) who is still looking for his first win of the season, as the club managed to blow a nine-run lead in a 15-9 home defeat to the New York Yankees in his last effort earlier this month on April 21.

The left-hander will be making his first career start versus the White Sox, coming in with a 1-1 record and 4.95 ERA in 12 career appearances (two starts) on the road.

The Red Sox have lost 11 of their last 14 games against the White Sox, while the "under" is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in the Windy City.
