Vyacheslav Senchenko vs. Paulie Malignaggi: Start Time, Live Stream and Schedule

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

The busy boxing weekend keeps rolling along with a battle in Ukraine, featuring Vyacheslav Senchenko putting his spotless 32-0 record and WBA Welterweight title on the line against Paulie Malignaggi.

Senchenko has not left the friendly confines of the Ukraine in his professional career. He is going to try to impress the hometown crowd once again versus the up-and-coming Malignaggi.

Malignaggi is starting to find a rhythm, with an impressive resume. His four career losses have come against top fighters (Amir Khan, Juan Diaz, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto). This is the most important match of his career, one that he has to win and can't afford to lose.

Senchenko's Keys to Victory

Use speed and elusiveness to keep Malignaggi off balance.

The best asset Senchenko has is his ability to attack opponents with his speed. He moves in and out as well as any boxer in the world right now, which helps him play up his power striking.

Senchenko must make sure that he is controlling the pace of the fight early. As long as he is able to come out at the opening bell and dictate everything that happens, it is going to be difficult for Malignaggi to break that wall of defense.

Malignaggi's Keys to Victory

Avoid getting hit in the later rounds, and use Senchenko's aggressiveness against him

Malignaggi is a very vanilla fighter. He doesn't have good striking or power in his punches, but he mixes in strong shots to the head and body, and his stamina is as good as there is.

With Senchenko, the key will be to make him use all of his energy trying to attack so that he has nothing left in the later rounds. Malignaggi has lost two fights in the 11th round because he left himself open to shots, so he has to make sure to keep his guard up at all times.

What They Are Saying

Malignaggi knows that he has the deck stacked against him going into enemy territory, but shortly after the fight was made, he told the world of the parallels between this and a fictional boxer who overcame all the odds.

From ESPN:

"

I'm making this a real-life 'Rocky' story, I'm going to the Ukraine to bring that title back to the United States of America. This fight is for the people who have supported me from day one. I'm bringing the belt back to New York.

"

We shall see if Malignaggi is able to break Senchenko in enemy territory. Ivan Drago wasn't able to do it to Rocky.

Prediction

As much as I want to make a case for Malignaggi winning this bout, Senchenko is too fast, strong and diverse for the American.

Senchenko wins via 10th-round TKO.
