Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It has long been assumed that Luck would go No. 1 overall to Indianapolis because he seemed to be a perfect fit for the organization, cut from same mold as Peyton Manning. Nonetheless, Colts owner Jim Irsay kept the pundits guessing about whether he would choose Luck or Robert Griffin III.
Luck cemented his title as the consensus No. 1 prospect after throwing for 3,517 yards and 37 touchdowns for Stanford in 2011.
What it Means
The Colts finally have their quarterback of the future, as Indy opts for Luck over Griffin. Luck is heralded as one of the best quarterback prospects to hit the board in years—maybe even since Manning himself was available.
There are a lot of expectations to live up to, but the scouts, and obviously the Colts, seem to think Luck is up for the challenge.
What Comes Next
The NFL draft begins on Thursday, April 26, and the Colts will make it official when they invite Luck onstage to receive his jersey. Luck will begin building his own legacy of greatness next September.
