Video: Ohio State Football Goes One-on-One Prior to Their Spring Game

Urban Meyer has a rather tall task for his first year at Ohio State. He needs to implement his offense and also keep a team motivated even though they will not be permitted to participate in the Big Ten Championship or any bowl game courtesy of sanctions handed down by the NCAA.

Motivation is indeed the name of the game, and Meyer created plenty of it before Ohio State held their spring game on Saturday. The circle drill took center stage at The Horseshoe before the teams headed to their sidelines, and the results were wonderful. Seriously, I just put on eye black and started screaming at random pedestrians, and this will likely make you tackle your coworker out of sheer football emotion. 

The concept of the circle drill is rather simple. One-on-one, surrounded by a coliseum made of men. You go to the whistle and then sometimes a little beyond it while you take on the cheers of the walls you are battling within. This clip of football goodness will both energize and depress you as you notice that “April” is still sitting atop your cubical calendar. 

The highlight here (although it’s all pretty much a highlight) is when starting QB Braxton Miller and backup QB Kenny Guiton get in the circle at the end of the video. Hello, collision.
