UFC 145 Results: Rashad Evans Says His Performance "Sucked"

Matt JuulJun 6, 2018

While most MMA fighters would be pleased with their performance if they went five-rounds with reigning UFC Light-Heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Rashad Evans isn't one of those guys.

"It sucked," Evans said in an interview on Fuel TV with reporter Karyn Bryant following his loss to Jones at UFC 145.

The former champion dropped a unanimous decision in his first loss since losing the light-heavyweight title to Lyoto Machida at UFC 98.  Jones was able to dominate the five round affair, preventing Evans from taking him down while picking his ex-teammate apart on foot.

In the interview, which can been viewed above, Evans said that he was able to catch Jones a couple of times, referring to a powerful head kick and body shots that he landed early in the fight, but was not persistent enough in his attack.  Evans also stated that an early injury hindered his footwork in the later rounds.

"I hurt my foot in the second round, so it kind of hurt my mobility," Evans said.  The injury to his foot was caused by a leg kick Evans threw that was checked by Jones' knee.

In terms of the execution of his game plan, Evans felt he did not attack at the right moments, citing the elbows Jones landed while they were hand fighting as well as not going for the takedown when the champ was on the offensive.

With the fight now over, don't expect Jones and Evans to bury the hatchet any time soon.

"I still don't like him," Evans said.  "We gonna fight again."
