Justin Bethel Video: Watch NFL Draft Prospect's Insane Hops
Forget Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III, I want to see a great deal more of Justin Bethel, the high-flying prospect who has become an Internet superstar.
Who needs a pool when you have five feet of boxes to prove your mad ups? Bethel is the newest athlete to have a video of his gravity-defying actions recorded and passed around to millions.
Many will remember Jarron Gilbert and his ability to leap out of a pool in a single bound, and you can re-live that moment here.
Well, my jaw is completely agape once again, and it's all thanks to a player that may not even get drafted this coming weekend.
Any team can uses an athlete that can fly, making this video the best publicity reel out there right now.
The defensive back from Presbyterian tells the story of ridiculous hops to CNBC.
"That night, we were showing how our weightlifting coach, coach Taylor, had helped us get stronger. We were just showing off to the fans, the local people. We had some volleyball players in there and they had seen me work out before and they had seen me do these box jumps.
I’m like, ‘I guess I’m going to go ahead and do it. I didn’t know how high the boxes were.
"
If you want to have an idea of how high those boxes were, Bethel had a 39.5 inch vertical leap at the combine, good for 5th best overall.
Per the CNBC report, ESPN's Mel Kiper thinks Bethel is among the top nine players from small colleges that could be drafted before the weekend.
I have no idea what he looks like in coverage, or what his instincts might be on the field, but I need this guy in the NFL.
If all else fails, he could jump on boxes on the sidelines to the amazement of the thousands in the stadium.
There just has to be a way to use an athlete who could literally jump over Danny DeVito.
