UFC 145 Results: Jon Jones Is Already an All-Time Great

Mike HodgesApr 21, 2012

After a year of trash-talk, Jon Jones prevailed over his rival Rashad Evans at UFC 145.

It might of not ended the way he had hoped, but the victory over Evans was satisfying for the UFC light heavyweight champion.

Jones had out-struck Evans, utilizing a variety of strikes, while also maintaining his distance, to be awarded the unanimous decision.

At one point it seemed as if the 24-year-old Jones would finish his opponent after staggering him with an elbow in the second round. Evans recovered, though. The win was Jones' third title defense and his seventh consecutive victory.

After easily getting by Evans, Jones has now defeated four of the elite fighters at 205 pounds and has solidified his status as the best light heavyweight in the world.

But more importantly, Jones has now found himself in the conversation as one of the best light heavyweights of all time. "Bones" has dispatched his competition with relative ease and has not looked to be threatened or tested one bit. Jones' physical stature and athleticism has allowed him to beat his opponents in dominant fashion, by the likes of which nobody has ever seen before.

With his next challenge coming in the form of Dan Henderson, Jones will have another formidable opponent to face.

His victories over Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Lyoto Machida were all incredible feats to overcome, but his recent win over Evans has now made Jones one of the sport's all-time greatest fighters.
