TNA: Now That Kurt Angle Is Not in the Olympics, How Will Impact Use Him?

David LevinJun 7, 2018

An injury has taken the chance to make the Olympic wrestling team away from Kurt Angle, and in doing so, may cause an issue with Angle's spot in TNA Wrestling, according to BBC.

When you look at the landscape of Impact Wrestling right now, with seven or eight legitimate contenders for the TNA World Title, is there room for one more in the ever-changing landscape of the brand?

Angle has been one of the core components of TNA, becoming a world champion, feuding with the likes of Sting, Bobby Roode, James Storm and now Jeff Hardy. And while the 43-year old is past his prime in the business, he is still better than 90 percent of the roster TNA has right now.

Angle's impact on the brand is not only felt in the ring, but as a veteran who has helped to sell for the likes of Roode, Storm, Hardy and Crimson. His ability to put wrestlers over is one of the reasons he is so valuable to the business.

But, the obvious reason why Angle is such a huge star in the promotion is his ability to wrestle and do things he was doing nearly a decade ago.

The matches of late with James Storm and now Jeff Hardy have proven he is still a risk taker and a man not afraid to go to the air when needed.

The Hardy-Swanton off the top of the cage, however, was just sick and the best finishing move of the year so far.

Angle also admitted that the last 10 years of his life have been hard—he uses pain killers because of injuries to his neck and surgery (via Wrestling News World). But he also said, if given the chance to compete for a spot in the Olympics, even with his advanced age, he would go through the abuse to his body to have a shot at gold.

Angle is still great for business. I think he is a star many times over and his mic skills and his "heel" persona is a need in the promotion. With Bobby Roode's "attitude" and Bully Ray's "dominance", someone like Angle—who is more clever and crafty—makes the trinity of heels more leveled.

He is still a threat to capture the TNA World Title at any time because what he does matters: He wrestles.
