Madden 2013: Why Cam Newton Is Best Possible Choice for Madden Cover Boy
Cam Newton deserves to be on the cover of "Madden 2013".
The final showdown is between Newton and Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson. After having one of the best NFL rookie seasons ever, it's only right the Carolina Panthers quarterback grace the cover.
In 2011, Newton became the first rookie quarterback to throw for more than 4,000 yards and the first quarterback ever to rush for 14 touchdowns. He also set the record for most overall touchdowns from a rookie at 35.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The former Auburn quarterback was the breakout star of the 2011 season. He definitely lived up to his first overall draft pick and may be able to resurrect the whole Panthers franchise. Even though the Panthers record was 6-10 last season, Newton's promising rookie season gave Carolina fans hope for the future.
Newton, the reigning AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, has an upper hand against Johnson, a five-year veteran. Johnson was selected second overall in the 2007 draft and has been explosive ever since. He registered a career-high 1,681 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. The Georgia Tech alum led the league in receiving yards and placed second in touchdown receptions.
While Johnson had an amazing season, Newton is the best pick to represent the NFL in 2013. He is redefining the way the quarterback position is being played. His ability to throw and run the football, compared with extreme athleticism, is the future of NFL quarterbacks.
Newton's skill set has the excitability factor associated with the Madden video-game series. His larger-than-life personality is perfect for the video game, which loves to showcase young and fresh-faced rising stars.
Many players and fans believe in the Madden curse. After being on the cover, a player's performance will decrease or they'll end up injured the following season. Newton clearly does not believe in this curse because he's been "CAMpaigning" for the coveted top spot.
The quarterback told the Charlotte Observer being on the cover is "what you make of it."
""Of course, it would be a big goal for me — if I'm on it or if I'm not, just being mentioned...I always grew up playing video games and playing Madden football. So that's an accolade in itself. Just having your name mentioned in the voting, I'm happy with that."

Will Cam Newton win the cover over Calvin Johnson? It's up to you. Make sure you cast your vote for the "Madden 2013" cover boy at ESPN by April 25.
