NFL Draft 2012: 2 Prospects with Falling Stocks Who Will Be Pro Bowlers

Chris TrapassoApr 19, 2012

Just because you aren't hearing a lot about these guys prior to the 2012 NFL draft doesn't mean they don't have legitimate potential to become Pro Bowlers in the future.

They may not have tested as well as many hoped during the pre-draft process, but their college careers were productive and they stand out on tape.

Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor

Wright's stock took a hit when he didn't time out as fast as everyone expected at the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine. He was mysteriously clocked at 4.61 in Indianapolis, but ran in the 4.40-4.46 range at his pro day in Waco in March

For the Baylor burner, it hasn't been so much about his stock plummeting as it has been his stock remaining stagnant during the pre-draft process.

Notre Dame's Michael Floyd has surpassed him in the eyes of many.

Wright represents fantastic value in the late stages of Round 1.

He's got eerily similar qualities to that of Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers. Wright's speed yields tremendous separation skills that will translate wonderfully to the professional game.

Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford

Martin isn't strong enough. That's what everyone's saying. Sure, he managed only 20 reps on the bench at his pro day, which is lower than left-tackle standards, but his tape is impressive.

He plays with a good center of gravity, and although he's not the most fleet of foot, he's athletic enough to push defenders back to the second level.

Martin will enter the NFL as a heady technician who can add strength in the weight room without a problem.

He's already a road-grading run blocker, and with more bulk, he'd be able to stymie both speed and bull-rushers coming off the edge.

Both guys pieced together wildly successful college careers. Wright plays much faster than he timed over the last few months. Martin's game is sound and adding strength isn't impossible. He's coachable with an astute grasp of how to be an effective edge lineman.
