Gregg Williams Reportedly Seeking Terms of Reinstatement from NFL
Gregg Williams, the former defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints who urged his players to injure the stars of the NFL, is reportedly in contact with the league about potentially being reinstated after being suspended indefinitely.
And as Jason La Canfora of NFL Network writes, there's actually a shot of that happening.
"While there is a perception that Williams might be banished from the game for life, or for a long period of time, that in fact could end up not being the case. History of such cases under (commissioner Roger) Goodell would speak to a process whereby, if followed closely, leads to reinstatement.

Williams and the Saints made headlines when they were found to have administered a bounty program from 2009 to 2011, paying players for "cart-offs" or "knockouts." Head coach Sean Payton has been suspended for the season. General manager Mickey Loomis was suspended for the first eight games.
This is a dangerous and important time for the NFL. The league can either welcome Williams back with open arms or do the right thing and ensure he never enters the NFL again.
Williams' actions are inexcusable. Yes, the NFL is a violent sport—I get that. But there's a difference between hitting a player hard and hitting him with the intention of taking him out of the game and potentially ending his career.
Among such quarterbacks as Brett Favre and Kurt Warner, Williams also urged his players to go after Carolina Panthers emerging quarterback Cam Newton (per the San Jose Mercury News). What would have happened if Newton was injured? We would have lost a budding star in the league.
It's only natural that Williams would want to inch his way back into the league, creating as little commotion as possible. But the damage has already been done, and he can't be trusted in the NFL.
Williams should be banned from the league and the blame should be placed directly on Goodell's shoulders if he reinstates Williams.
