Tim Tebow and Bubba Watson Share Special Bond On and Off Playing Field
You cannot think of Tim Tebow without thinking of No. 15. The NFL superstar made the number famous on Saturdays with the Florida Gators and on Sundays with the Denver Broncos (and now with the New York Jets).
The No. 15 was in action on Masters Sunday too, only Tebow didn't know it.
His friend Bubba Watson was randomly assigned the No. 15 Masters badge at Augusta and with the tournament on the line, he channeled his inner Tebow and came up with a playoff win for his first ever major victory.
It would seem only right then for Bubba to give that very badge to Tebow.
Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union reported that Bubba did just that at the 2nd Annual Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic at the TPC Sawgrass and cited his special bond with the quarterback as the reason:
""I knew I’d see Tim in a week. I told my caddie, I’m going to keep it unopened, and I’m going to hand it to him. I just felt like I should give it to him. It’s his football number, and I thought he might want it more now that I won.
“We believe in the Bible and doing good for people. That’s our connection. We both play sports, and there are other connections, too, but our first connection is being Christians."
"
The No. 15 has now become another link for the two star athletes who've already found friendship and common ground in their faith and passion for helping others.
Tebow was touched and said, "It was very special. He didn’t have to do anything like that."
Watson and Tebow are both just scratching the surface of their potential. They'll be able to give back and use their standing as professional athletes to do good for others for a long time still.
