WWE: Would Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk Be a Dream Match or a Mismatch?
Brock Lesnar is back in the WWE and he's already targeted one of the top stars in the company: John Cena. They are slated to wrestle an Extreme Rules match at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view. We'll know where their feud is headed after the PPV, but whom will Lesnar set his sights on after John Cena?
As WWE Champion, CM Punk is a logical choice for a future opponent for Lesnar. Sure, they're both favorites of Paul Heyman, but would they be a good match for each other?
It's been well established for years now that CM Punk can put on a good match with just about anyone. He's a very versatile performer with an incredibly diverse moveset. Lesnar isn't quite on Punk's level, but he does have a background in collegiate wrestling.

Stylistically, I would imagine that Punk and Lesnar's styles could mesh for a good match. Punk is obviously quicker and more of a submission technician, which would be useful in taking down his extremely powerful opponent.
Lesnar's power alone would make him an outstanding threat to CM Punk. Given Punk's character, it's not often that we see him as a sympathetic babyface. However, if Lesnar physically targets Punk in the way he is doing with John Cena, it would definitely be a possible dynamic for Punk.
As I mentioned, Lesnar has a history as an amateur wrestler. If he were to step in the ring with Punk, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some chain wrestling between the two. In addition, Lesnar is relatively agile for his size. While he can't match Punk move-for-move when it comes to his quick paced and high flying moves, he can certainly keep up with him.
Finally, Lesnar isn't exactly the "Next Big Thing" when he has a microphone in hand. While he can easily get the upper hand on Punk when it comes to physical strength, Punk would almost certainly dominate Lesnar in promos.
If these two do get to engage in a long term feud over the WWE Championship, I would like to see Lesnar as the champion and Punk as the babyface chasing the title. Based on what I've said about their dynamic, I think that would be the best scenario to create a compelling program between the two.
