The Best Goals from Liverpool's Season so Far

Sam BecroftJun 7, 2018

Goals have been few and far between for Liverpool over the last 12 months.

This hasn't been helped by the woodwork—something Liverpool have hit 27 times this season alone.

However, there have been some stunning goals—fleeting moments of brilliance in a season riddled with missed opportunities.

Liverpool have shown they are capable of both the sublime and the ridiculous.

Here are the top-eight goals from the season so far.

8. Jordan Henderson vs. Bolton

1 of 8

A neat finish from Henderson as he curled a left-footed shot into the top corner.

He demonstrated his composure as he waited for the ball to fall for him before slotting home.

This was Henderson's first goal for Liverpool.

Overall, a calm, elegant finish that has so often been missing this season.

7. Charlie Adam vs. Bolton

2 of 8

(Goal at 2:30)

Another goal from the early-season thrashing of Bolton.

Another player to open his account for the Reds.

Charlie Adam showed his excellent long-range shooting technique as he kept his head down to place a low drive in the bottom left-hand corner.

Like Henderson's, a classy, but not spectacular finish.

6. Luis Suarez vs. Wolves

3 of 8

All of Luis Suarez's best traits on display.

A superbly timed run to beat the offside trap before gracefully taking the ball in his stride.

His quick feet then gave him the time and space to smash a shot past a helpless Wayne Hennessy.

A good finish from Suarez, but not his best.

5. Andy Carroll vs. Exeter

4 of 8

Andy Carroll, scoring? Surely not.

Goals have been hard to come by for Carroll in a redshirt—and admittedly—this strike came against lowly Exeter, a League One side.

However, you still have to finish them.

The ball fell to Carroll after some neat work from Luis Suarez.

Carroll then proceeded to smash the ball home with a ruthlessness Liverpool fans wished they saw more often.

4. Luis Suarez vs. Stoke City

5 of 8

Another appearance from Mr. Suarez.

After a precise one-two, Suarez showed fantastic strength to hold off a man and create space.

He then stroked the ball home past a sprawling Thomas Sorensen to give Liverpool the lead.

And this wasn't even his best strike against Stoke...

3. Glen Johnson vs. Chelsea

6 of 8

An individual piece of brilliance from Glen Johnson consigned his former club to defeat.

In the dying minutes of a tense game, Johnson confidently controlled a cross-field pass from Charlie Adam, before cutting inside Ashley Cole.

He then powered into the Chelsea area before coolly finishing past Petr Cech and a desperate John Terry.

Johnson has all the skills of a striker and is extremely dangerous in the final third.

2. Sebastian Coates vs. Queens Park Rangers

7 of 8

A simply stunning strike from Sebastian Coates.

When was the last time you saw a 6'5" centre-back score from an overhead kick?

Coates allowed the ball to drop, before leaping elegantly and smashing the ball into the roof of the net.

He demonstrated excellent technique for a defender as he kept his head down and did not try to over-hit the shot.

If only our strikers could do the same...

1. Luis Suarez vs. Stoke City

8 of 8

Luis Suarez at his brilliant best.

After receiving a long pass from Jay Spearing, Suarez cheekily nutmegged a bewildered Ryan Shotton before bending an exquisite shot around Stoke 'keeper Thomas Sorensen.

This is clearly the best goal of the season and will take some beating in the remaining fixtures.

It was an absolutely superb strike.
