Teams That Need the Most Help During NFL Draft
For five NFL teams this year, this may be a make-or-break draft. When it comes to needs, they have tons—perhaps more than even the draft can meet.
Topping the list is the Indianapolis Colts. Upon parting ways with quarterback Peyton Manning, they embarked on a wholesale housecleaning.
Though they’ve made a few free-agency acquisitions, they’ll still need to make full use of their draft picks to meet their many remaining needs.
The Cleveland Browns have a plethora of needs—mainly on offense—but luckily, they should be able to meet most, if not all of them, in the draft.
With 13 picks, it would take a number of major missteps for the Browns to come away worse off than they are now.
Not only do the Oakland Raiders have many needs to address in the draft—running back, offensive line, linebackers, defensive ends and secondary—but they don’t have the picks to fill them all.
They’ll need to seriously prioritize these needs in order to fill their most glaring holes with their limited draft picks.
Yes, the Denver Broncos brought on quarterback Peyton Manning and have assembled a few free agents around him, and yes, they do have a strong defense.
However, their secondary is aging, Manning needs more weapons, and the run game could use an infusion of youth. Tight end is also a huge priority for the Broncos this year.
Finally, rounding out the list is the Minnesota Vikings. Their needs are also on both sides of the ball and include better offensive-line protection for quarterback Christian Ponder, more receivers, someone other than Jared Allen to rush the passer, help in the secondary and, last but certainly not least, another running back, especially if Adrian Peterson isn’t ready to go at season’s start.
