NFL Draft 2012: Combine Stars Who Are Worth the Hype
With the 2012 NFL Draft just a few days away, the excitement over the event has football fans all over the world yearning for their favorite Sunday pastime.
One of the biggest questions leading into this year’s draft was how the stars of the NFL Scouting Combine would translate those talents into on-field success in the NFL.
All of the following stars had great combine workouts, but it will be their NFL success that makes them stars.
Quinton Coples
After an amazing combine performance, there are still several teams with questions about former UNC defensive end Quinton Coples' attitude and work ethic.
As seen from his performance under pressure, the DE thrives under those circumstances. If an NFL team can keep the young star focused on each game, Coples will be a star in the NFL.
While tons of hype around the star has been bad for his draft stock at times, the way in which he has handled it all has proven to the few organizations that matter that he is worth a shot.
Michael Brockers
One of the most raw prospects in the draft, Michael Brockers is one of the best pure football players to come out this season.
Brockers has so much to learn about playing defensive tackle at the NFL level, but his size and speed proves that he is bound for stardom. After an outstanding performance at the combine, Brockers is ready to start learning.
Teams will see his willingness to learn as a positive and load the young star with everything he can handle. If they give him the proper time to develop, Brockers could be the biggest star from this class.
Melvin Ingram
With two teams looking at the combine stud hard, South Carolina Gamecocks utility defensive lineman Melvin Ingram has become one of the hottest commodities in the draft.
Not only can the powerhouse play any position on the defensive line, he can play linebacker and drop into coverage. He is the perfect weapon for a blitz-first defense like the Ryan brothers' run in Dallas and New York.
If Ingram can find the right coaching staff to exploit all of his talents, Ingram will be a perennial Pro-Bowl player and a serious NFL superstar.
