Peyton Manning: Broncos Will Be Forced to Tweak Game Plan to Meet QB's Skills

Richard LangfordJun 4, 2018

The Denver Broncos offense is going to look a lot like the offense that the 2010 Colts ran. That is because they have the same coach. Well, technically, he's not the coach.

Technically, Peyton Manning is just a player, but a big part of the reason he is such a legendary player is his brain. He is a master of reading defenses, pre- and post-snap, and then quickly deciding where the best place to go with the football is.

In that sense, he is the offensive coordinator, because he is often the one calling the play, with his audibles, and he is always the one deciding where the ball is going to be delivered.

Manning's skill at controlling the flow of the offense is what led he and his Colts team to be so successful in the no-huddle offense. And that is exactly why the Broncos are smart to incorporate that into their offense.

Arnie Stapleton of the Associated Press confirms that the Broncos will be working in that no-huddle.

"With Manning replacing Tim Tebow, who was traded to the Jets, the Broncos are installing a no-huddle offense like the one Manning ran in Indy," Stapleton wrote.

Manning will be functioning in the terminology of the Broncos offense, but he will be using that terminology to audible to plays he feels are going to work against the defense he sees.

Those plays are not going to change because he is on a new team, and if the Broncos don't have a play in their book that Manning likes to run, they will once he tells them he likes to run it.

Manning's success has spanned coaches, coordinators and countless teammates. It will now venture over to a new team because he is the source of that success.

The Broncos are not going to dictate how he needs to be successful. They will ask him what he needs, give it to him and then stay out of his way.
