Charles Rogers Reportedly Threatened to Kill Mother over $100K Loan
Former NFL wide receiver Charles Rogers faces misdemeanor charges in Michigan for allegedly threatening to kill his mother, according to a police report obtained by The Saginaw News.
The report states that Rogers and his 51-year-old uncle, Ronie Rogers, are facing misdemeanor charges of "of making a malicious phone call to Cathy Rogers and conspiring to commit that crime March 5 and March 6."
The report alleges that Rogers left his mother several voicemails demanding she return $100,000. In one of them, Rogers allegedly said he would “blow her mouth out,” and that he was willing to do "the time” he would invariably get as a consequence.

Cathy Rogers reported the alleged threatening calls from her son to the police, and she also told the police that Rogers was in danger of losing his house.
At one point, Rogers called his mother while a trooper was with her, and Cathy told the trooper that Rogers had told her he was outside her home. A search for Rogers was unsuccessful, but he called back again. This time, he spoke with the trooper, who told him to stop calling. Rogers "indicated he understood," but he also reiterated that he wanted his money back.
Rogers surrendered to authorities last week, and he has pleaded not guilty to five different charges, two for threatening his mother and three more on unrelated charges. He is scheduled for a May 8 pre-trial hearing. He faces a maximum of six months in prison for each of the two charges stemming from his threats.
Ronie Rogers has denied any involvement, and he also believes that Cathy Rogers "edited" both Charles's and his own voicemail messages.
Rogers was a star at Michigan State, setting the school record for touchdown receptions. He was drafted second overall by the Detroit Lions in 2003 and was eventually released by the team in 2006.
He hasn't played in the NFL since.
