NFL Draft 2012: Biggest Questions Left to Be Answered on Draft Day

Nicholas GossJun 2, 2018

The 2012 NFL draft is just under two weeks away, but there are still a number of questions that have yet to be answered as the excitement continues to build.

With the possibility of teams making bold moves to trade up or down in the draft, there will be no shortage of drama as April 26 nears.

Let's look at three questions that will be answered on draft day.

Will the Vikings Trade the No. 3 Pick?

If there is a team willing to give up a lot of their future to draft a Texas A&M quarterback at pick No. 3, then the Minnesota Vikings should trade this pick.

The Vikings would be wise to take stud left tackle Matt Kalil from USC to anchor their offensive line for the next decade, but if a team makes them an incredible offer, then Minnesota would be foolish not to consider it. There are other quality offensive linemen the Vikings could select later in the first round.

The Vikings need a ton of help on offense, and have many quality players to choose from at pick No. 3. However, they might be persuaded to move the pick if they receive a good enough offer.

Will Alshon Jeffery be a High First-Round Pick?

Alshon Jeffery has fallen in many expert's NFL mock drafts since the end of the college football season, and he is no longer a lock to be selected in the top 20 of the first round.

Jeffery doesn't have a lot of speed, and he didn't help his draft stock by choosing not to run at the combine. He has a lot of talent and can make spectacular catches in traffic, but drafting him in the first 20-to-25 picks is certainly a risk.

He's a high-risk, high-reward kind of player.

Will the Patriots Use both of their First-Round Picks?

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick loves to trade high draft picks for more draft picks, as he tries to maximize his ability to select a number of players who can help his team.

However, with a Super Bowl-caliber team that has a defense which needs a lot of work, Belichick would be wise to use both of his first-round picks on defensive players.

The Patriots' championship window isn't closing, but it's not getting any wider either. The team would be smart to use both of those picks on players who can help them next season, but you cannot rule out anything with Belichick.
