7 NFL Teams That Would Be Better Than the New York Jets for HBO's Hard Knocks
The HBO Series Hard Knocks is getting ready to film again for the upcoming 2012 NFL season and it appears the New York Jets want to be the center of attention concerning the cable company's production of the special feature.
According to reports out of USA Today, team owner Woody Johnson is all for the team appearing on the program while the Jets' head coach Rex Ryan does not want his staff and players in the spotlight again after having already made an appearance.
And we all thought the drama in New York would end with the trade for Tim Tebow.
There are other teams to consider that might be just as potent in terms of drama if HBO is looking for that sort of reality in sports. Who are we kidding, of course they are.
And these franchises would love a chance to show what they are made of. Whatever the reason, teams want the spotlight, both good and bad.
Here are teams that would look just as good on the screen Sunday evenings.
Dallas Cowboys
1 of 7Jerry Jones always wants to be in the spotlight and where the cameras are rolling.
Dallas has been on the show before. But now, he has another coach on the sideline, different players and a whole other chance to make a lasting impression on the cable media.
Yes, this kind of show is just what Jones and his team are made for.
Green Bay Packers
2 of 7They are on the list because a team that finishes the season 15-1 and does not reach the Super Bowl is baffling.
This team made some additions to the club and will look to add more in the draft.
The Packers may have been the quietest 15-1 team ever in the NFL. And with Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews on the team, there is never a dull moment.
Bring the cable crews to Title Town, USA.
New York Giants
3 of 7They win a Super Bowl for the second time in four years and the Jets are upstaging them in the offseason.
Such is the life of the Giants.
But showing up on reality television may change all that.
The Giants did lose key components to their Super Bowl winning team in Brandon Jacobs and Mario Manningham, both now members of the 49ers.
It will be interesting to see if they react well to the loses and continue forward.
Washington Redskins
4 of 7Funny how three of these teams are in the NFC East.
Washington is either going to be a major player in the playoff picture or a train wreck waiting to happen.
And Daniel Snyder is a Jerry Jones-type owner who wants the spotlight shinning on him, not his players. If that is the case, then he has made a pretty big impression of himself known to everyone associated with football.
If trading first round picks to get Robert Griffin III, signing receivers, and changing the dynamic of the offense are not enough to get on television, then nothing is.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
5 of 7A new coach, new look, and new players—no one did better in free agency than the Buccaneers. And bringing HBO to the Big Sombrero would be a nice lead-in to a good season.
The fact the Bucs, after a poor season, could sign Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks, add Eric Wright and re-sign Ronde Barber shows there is still confidence in a team on the west coast of Florida.
This team could be the biggest surprise in the NFC this year.
San Francisco 49ers
6 of 7How does a team that dominates their division and falls in the NFC Title game react? They stock pile offensive players and move forward.
Not a bad idea for Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers, who now have fire power to score early and often.
This could be the year the Bay gets another Super Bowl Title without someone named Montana or Young at the helm.
New Orleans Saints
7 of 7How can you not want this team as the one under the microscope?
Big fines. "Bountygate". New head coach. Changes in staff and personnel. Drew Brees is mad. Tom Benson is clueless and the team loses two key players from the offense in free agency.
And the team still may be very good next season.
This team turned into the new Oakland Raiders of the NFL. Black and Silver was replaced by Black and Gold.
Let's see how they react when they know the microphone is in front of them.
