Fantasy Baseball 2012: Top 15 Prospects Targeted for June 1 Promotions

Jay ClemonsJun 7, 2018

I don't have enough time to fully explain the Super Twos rule when it comes to MLB clubs promoting top prospects after Memorial Day... and how it affects each player's arbitration status down the line.

But I can hazard an educated guess on which touted prospects will be the next to earn permanent promotions to the majors around June 1 (Jesus Montero, Devin Mesoraco, Drew Pomeranz, Tom Milone and Danny Duffy don't count here, since they've already landed spots with the Mariners, Reds, Rockies, A's and Royals, respectively):

1. OF Mike Trout, Angels (It's never too early to grab this future star off waivers.)

2. OF Bryce Harper, Nationals (Ditto for one of the most hyped hitters of the last 30 years.)

3. SP Shelby Miller, Cardinals (The emergence of Lance Lynn may delay Miller's arrival.)

4. SP Jacob Turner, Tigers (A cross between Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer.)

5. SP Trevor Bauer, Diamondbacks (Perhaps the greatest upside of any pitcher on this list.)

6. SP Danny Hultzen, Mariners (A big reason why Seattle won't regret trading Michael Pineda.)

7. SP Julio Teheran, Braves (Maybe the best prospect in Atlanta's fertile farm system.)

8. OF Brett Jackson, Cubs (Opportunity knocks for this 20-20 stud in the minors.)

9. OF Wil Myers, Royals (Better suited for a 2013 debut; blessed with superb hitting prowess.)

10. SP Martin Perez, Rangers (A raw southpaw with 200-strikeout potential.)

11. SP Jarrod Parker, Athletics (Perhaps the next ace of the A's rotation.)

12. C Travis d'Arnaud, Blue Jays (A potential four-category factor from day one of his MLB career.)

13. SP Mike Montgomery, Royals (Just a notch below Danny Duffy on KC's pitching pecking order.)

14. 3B Wilmer Flores, Mets (David Wright injury woes/trade winds may prompt early MLB arrival.)

15. SS Jordany Valdespin, Mets (Could play a starring role within New York's youth movement.)

One last thing: Here is MLB.com's Top 100 prospect rankings from March. Enjoy!
