2012 NFL Draft: Titans Reportedly Host South Carolina DB Stephon Gilmore
Many project that the Tennessee Titans will investigate the cornerback market with their first pick in the upcoming draft (No. 20 overall), and it appears the team is getting a jump on the process.
The team hosted former South Carolina defensive back Stephon Gilmore recently, according to a report from TitanInsider, and he would figure to be in the mix for Tennessee at No. 20.
Gilmore is a fast-rising cornerback prospect who ranks behind just Morris Claiborne in the eyes of most draftniks. He's a quick-footed player with tremendous size for the position (6'1", 195 pounds) and an early entrant to the draft after a standout junior season at South Carolina in 2011.
He's a capable two-phase player, having amassed four interceptions in 11 games last season and contributing 46 tackles as well.
In Tennessee, Gilmore could assume the role vacated by veteran corner Cortland Finnegan, who left via free agency to re-join former Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, who has taken the reins in St. Louis.
Gilmore would have the opportunity to start opposite fourth-year corner Jason McCourty, who had his best season a a pro in 2011, totaling 103 tackles and two interceptions.
Tennessee is not the first stop for Gilmore during the pre-draft process, as he has reportedly visited with both the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns as well.
