MLB Power Rankings 2012: Biggest Surprises Following Shocking Opening Week
If you are going to through all the trouble of throwing an Opening Weekend, I guess you may as well make it pretty damn interesting.
The baseball season is finally up and running, and there is just one troubling thought that crept through my mind: I have no clue what the hell is going on.
Good teams were bad, and some awful ones were winning. The baseball fan in me knows this will all change, but it doesn't it make the news any less intriguing.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Here are just a few of the most shocking trends we saw from the past week in baseball.
1. New York Yankees
Relax, because I can sense the fear and paranoia clear across the the country. This team will settle down and begin racking up wins shortly, but we did see some issues that will arise again in the next six months.
The Yankees are off to a 1-4 start and had a couple of huge missteps in the form of pitching woes from CC Sabathia and Mariano Rivera.
No season was ever lost in the first weekend, so we will brush this aside as something that will change shortly.
2. Baltimore Orioles
Savor this like a fine wine that is about to be ripped from the table, because it will.
The Orioles will not start under the pile of East Coast powers and are hoping that a sweep of the Twins is a springboard to a special season.
I say savor because there is no way their pitching remains this dominant.
3. Boston Red Sox
I hate simply talking ad nauseum about the AL East, because it is done enough. But there is no way we can ignore how silly things got in a division that we thought was all settled prior to the season opening.
Josh Beckett imploded and Bobby Valentine is looking more like the wrong choice with every day. Again, patience is key because this team is stacked and will compete for the pennant.
There is no way Beckett continues to look more like pitching machine than ace.
