WWE's Worst Person of the Week: Chris Jericho

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

After what he did to AJ on last week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, I’m betting that Daniel Bryan isn’t too popular with the ladies right now.

He dumped AJ in front of the world, and he wasn’t exactly courteous when did it.

As much disdain as wrestling fans were feeling for Bryan when did that, though, that doesn’t even compare to the hatred aimed at Chris Jericho after his heinous attack on CM Punk on last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

Throughout their feud, Jericho has stooped to incredible lows. He’s ripped Punk’s father for his alcoholism, Punk’s sister for her substance abuse problems and Punk himself for being born out of wedlock.

But as hard it was to watch Y2J blast Punk and his family, it was even harder to see his cowardly attack on Punk on last week’s Raw show.

Following Punk’s countout loss to Mark Henry, Jericho came out of the crowd for a promo and said that he and Punk deserved to celebrate their classic WrestleMania 28 match…with a drink.

As Punk lay on the ground, Jericho told Punk that he promised him that he would be the reason that Punk took his first drink, and then, Jericho proceeded to pour a bottle of liquor all over Punk. “Drink it up! Drink it up,” Jericho screamed.

Pouring alcohol all over the straight edge Punk was an absolutely disgraceful act in and of itself, but of course, we all know that Jericho wasn’t going to stop there.

The WWE has done an excellent job of making this feud more and more personal by the week, and Jericho took it to the next level when he followed up Punk’s alcohol bath my smashing yet another bottle of liquor over Punk’s head.

The live crowd was in awe as Jericho stood over a broken and battered Punk, and the fans watching at home couldn’t believe that Jericho would participate in such a cowardly act.

This segment worked to perfection.

Jericho lost a lot of momentum when he lost to Punk at WrestleMania 28, but he instantly regained it by viciously attacking Punk and continuing to rip his family and his beliefs.

For that, Jericho is, at least in my view, the top heel in all of the WWE at the moment, but that also makes him the WWE’s Worst Person of the Week.

Note: As part of the new WWE blog, I'll be asking all of the B/R wrestling readers for questions for a new mailbag that I will post on Fridays. It will be a slideshow featuring 10-20 questions and answers on a wide range of topics. You can submit questions either through Formspring or Twitter, and the best ones will be answered in the B/R mailbag.
