Real Madrid's Iker Casillas Says Los Blancos Could Lose La Liga

After dropping six points over the past three weeks, even Real Madrid's captain is expressing doubts about their ability to close out the La Liga season in first place.

Sunday's 0-0 draw against Valencia is the club's third in their last five games. After the match, Iker Casillas admitted that Real Madrid could still lose the championship.

I believe Madrid could lose La Liga, because Barcelona are also fighting and we have not won anything.

We have never said that we had won it [already]. Our rivals also have a lot to play for and we cannot solely live off being eight or 10 points ahead.

"

As recently as March 17, Real Madrid were 10 points ahead in the table. Their form was so dominant that Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola repeatedly said that the battle for the Spanish title was over.

Madrid had their own wastefulness and Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita Panadero to blame for the lost points on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho's men had 33 total shots, but only put 10 on frame. Guaita rose to the challenge each time with several unlikely saves.

Even with their offensive onslaught, Madrid can count themselves lucky to have taken a single point away from the match.

Valencia took 17 shots of their own, including several clear opportunities that were left wanting.

The Madrid derby is up next for Los Blancos when they face Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday.
