Manchester City Boss Roberto Mancini Admits He Could Be Sacked

Football management is a career path fraught with peril. It's even more dangerous when you've spent massively to assemble one of the most expensive teams in history and find yourself letting the Premier League championship slip out of your grasp.

That's the situation Roberto Mancini finds himself in as the season races to a conclusion. Despite spending the majority of the season as leaders, his Manchester City squad find themselves five points behind Manchester United with just seven matches left to play.

City have slipped off the lead after winning just once in their last four matches. But Mancini is optimistic about his chances of remaining at the Etihad, even if his team finish second this season:

... I will continue in my job. I'm sure that this club has arrived at the top. With two or three more players after this year, this club will start to win, and when it starts to win it will win two or three titles every year.

"

The Italian went on to admit the possibility that he could be sacked but says that is the nature of the job:

I've been in this world for a long time and I know you can lose this job. But it's important to me that the squad have improved a lot over the last two years. We are progressing. I don't decide [my future].

In football anything can happen in any moment. This championship can change in one week. The same regarding my future. When you choose this job you know that anything can happen in any moment.

I don't have a problem with that.

"

Manchester City travel to the Emirates on Sunday to take on Arsenal. They will host the Manchester derby against Sir Alex Ferguson's league leaders on April 30th.
