Frozen Four 2012: How Boston College Will Topple Ferris State in Final

Steven CookApr 6, 2012

This year's version of Cinderella in college hockey, Ferris State will be dominated by red-hot Boston College in the national championship Saturday night.

The Eagles of Boston College have won 18 straight and are the immovable force in NCAA hockey. They've been to five of the last seven championship games and are led by a flock of future NHL stars.

In their 6-1 slaughter of Minnesota in the Frozen Four on Thursday, goaltender Parker Milner was outstanding with a 30 save performance. The one goal he gave up Thursday, with under two minutes left in the game, was his first given up in the tournament—snapping a 193 minute shutout streak.

Despite Minnesota having chance after chance at point-blank range, Milner denied nearly every one of them. He'll have little problem putting Boston College on his back if they need it.

Soon-to-be New York Ranger Chris Kreider has three goals in the championship tournament, and his offensive explosion will be key in their matchup with Ferris State.

No. 1 Boston College has been atop the polls seemingly all year and has been the favorite to bring home the national championship since the preseason. They won't let some Cinderella story take all of the glory away from them.

Despite it being the national championship, Ferris State winning Saturday would be historic letdown for Boston College fans.

The Eagles' offensive output comes from so many different players, which will help them to score early and often against Ferris State.

With goal scoring coming from so many different players on the roster and hands down the best goaltender in the nation, it looks inevitable that Boston College will be raising the championship trophy into the wee hours of Sunday morning.
