NFL Nike Uniforms: Teams That Failed to Score Major Makeover

Chris TrapassoApr 6, 2012

Nike needed to make extensive changes to the following team's uniforms, but sadly for those clubs, they failed to get a major makeover.

Because the NFL uniforms didn't change much, the majority of the league's fanbases were content with the minimal alterations.

These teams desperately need a different look.

Indianapolis Colts

I understand and have the utmost respect for history and tradition. But, come on, it's 2012. The Colts uniforms have barely changed throughout the team's history.

The blue horseshoe mustn't be touched. Thanks to Peyton Manning it's become one of the most recognizable logos in the sporting world today.

I'm all for a classic look, but feel that Nike could add a little futuristic flair while incorporating more of the team name into the new threads.

Maybe a different finish on the helmet or the word "Colts" on the front. Maybe not something for Indy to have as their primary home and away, but an alternate that ventures away from the norm would certainly be welcomed.

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders are one of the most storied and polarizing NFL franchises in the history of the league. Their silver and black color scheme is ideal for their mascot and really identifies with fans.

However, is there any creativity in their current look?

To be honest, it closely resembles a practice jersey. No stripes to decals. Nothing.

A bigger Raiders logo on the helmet would be a nice touch, to give a more intimidating feel to the team's lids.

Because of the silver and gray contrast, more gray maybe near the shoulders on the home black tops would really pop.

Just give me something more.

Please, Nike.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles may have the most early 2000s-looking color scheme in the league. For some reason, they transferred from the fresh, bright green that was their base color for years, to the dark, forest green that clashes with the secondary black coloring.

They must go back to the older look

They're actual Eagle head logo is pretty cool—adding that to an alternate helmet would totally rock.

However, I'm totally fine with the winged helmets, as long as the bright green color returns.

Add in some creative stripes and marks near the shoulders and on the pants and you've got yourself one of the best overall looks in the league.
