Masters 2012 Leaderboard: Golfers Ready to Make Move Towards Top at Augusta

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Through a muddy course that was still a joy for fans to behold, a few of the sports best emerged as the leaders on day one. It's about to get rather interesting on day two.

We knew this would be a classic, with so many subplots heading into day one. The opening salvo certainly shows promise as a memorable weekend at the Masters.

Many of the marquee names stepped aside for some dark-horse golfers to make a play at the top of the leaderboard.

That just means we are about to see some brilliant comebacks in the next day or two. Don't count the next few golfers out, because they have shown legendary poise and tenacity before.

The Masters is not over by a long shot, and these few will prove that starting on day two.

1. Keegan Bradley

Bradley had a one-under 71 which is good for a share in the spoils of 11th place at the moment. He still remains my sleeper pick for the four days at Augusta.

He showed his volatility, starting frigid with a double on his first hole and then maintaining solid form until a bogey on the last.

The 25-year-old is just getting his footing at Augusta. I see good things in day two.

2. Phil Mickelson

It was hard to watch Lefty struggle, especially when we thought all the karma rested with the star golfer who woke early to see the legends tee off.

Perhaps he should have slept in because the first round was more rough than he would have liked. With a day of tumult behind him, he is ready to make a charge.

You know I had to include the star of the show.

Woods struggled for most of the day to find the form that he seemed to have left at Bay Hill. The nerves will be left on the first day and Tiger will get back down to business.

He still putted well for the most part and that is the main thing you need working at Augusta, making the next couple days a guarantee for an exciting surge.
