Masters Predictions 2012: Phil Mickelson and More Safe Picks to Win

Alex KayApr 5, 2012

The 2012 Masters has begun at Augusta National and it’s already looking to be a great tournament.

There are so many elite competitors in this event and each and every single one of them is hoping to capture the prestigious green jacket on Sunday.

Some golfers have a much better chance than others at doing this, so let’s take a look at who would be a safe bet to win it all.

Phil Mickelson – 11:1

Lefty already has three green jackets hanging in his closet and would love to add a fourth in 2012.

He’s always dominance in this event; winning in 2004, 2006 and 2010 with finishes in the top 10 every single year since 1999 with the exception of 2007 and 2011.

Mickelson should be looking to avenge his poor T-27 place finish last year with a victory to prove he’s still one of the best.

Rory McIlroy – 6:1

The young Irishman is one of the games great up-and-comers. He nearly won his first green jacket in 2011, but faltered down the stretch and blew a four-stroke lead in the final round.

He should be hungry and looking for redemption, especially considering all of the coverage focusing on his epic collapse last year.

Tiger Woods – 4:1

Tiger got his first PGA Tour win in years less than two weeks ago at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Now everyone believes he is back and ready to start chasing Jack Nicklaus again for all-time major wins.

Woods truly looks primed to capture his 15th major and fifth Masters victory this weekend.

It would certainly be tough to bet against him.
