Max Browne to USC: Trojans Secure Future by Landing 5-Star QB Recruit

Eric BallJun 7, 2018

It’s never too early to start thinking about the future.

The USC Trojans already have a top-five draft pick in Matt Barkley for the 2012 season, and now they have secured their QB for the next four years after that.

Max Browne, the top QB recruit of the 2013 class, announced late Wednesday that he plans to play his collegiate ball at the Coliseum according to Brandon Huffman of Rivals.com:

Some may find it odd for one of the top recruits to make a decision so early in the process. After listening to Browne, you get a better understanding of his thinking (via Seattle Times):

"

I got my first scholarship offer a couple days after my freshman year in high school, so I've been in the process long enough.

As more and more offers came in, I was able to evaluate schools, talk to a bunch of coaches and meet some great ones but, at this point, I've seen enough. It's time to pull the trigger so I can move on to Skyline football and winning another state title.

"

The 5-star recruit had narrowed his choices to Alabama, Oklahoma and Washington in addition to USC, but in the end it was the Trojans' illustrious history that won out.

Last year Browne threw for 4,034 yards and 45 TDs while taking Skyline, Washington to a 4A state championship.

So what’s all the fuss about?

Browne stands at 6’5’’ and 200 pounds, and has an incredible arm to boot. Not only can he heave the ball 50 yards with the flick of the wrist, but he is extremely accurate as well. Thanks to very strong mechanics that include a sound release, ball placement and footwork, Browne is head-and-shoulders above everybody in his class.

This is a big day for the USC Trojans and now the school has an incredibly bright future just three years after it looked to be in big trouble with the two-year bowl ban.

Seems like a long time ago at this point.
