Nerlens Noel: Kentucky Is Only Logical Destination for Prized Recruit

Richard LangfordJun 6, 2018

The player considered to be the best recruit in the nation, Nerlens Noel, needs to sign with Kentucky. It is the best fit for him and will give him the best opportunity to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Noel is a 6'10", 215-pound center from Everett, Massachusetts. He is scheduled to announce his school of choice on April 11th, and he has narrowed that down to Syracuse, Georgetown and Kentucky.

He has good athleticism, long arms, plays above the rim, runs the floor and blocks almost every shot that comes anywhere near him.

In other words, he is another Anthony Davis. The same Davis who was just named the MOP after Kentucky won the national title. The same Davis who is likely going to be the No. 1 selection in the upcoming draft.

Noel and Davis are strikingly similar players, and Davis proved that Kentucky was the ideal spot for a player of that ilk.

Noel would be able to step in and fill the exact role vacated by Davis. This is a Kentucky team that is consistently loaded with talent but is always focused on defense, and it is on defense where Noel will shine the most.

He is a shot-blocker extraordinaire, and he would be allowed to put those skills on full display with the defending national champs.

Kentucky will also allow Noel plenty of opportunities to get out and run the court. Noel is a monster in the open court, and with the Wildcats' pressure defense creating fastbreak opportunities, Noel will be gliding and flying all over the court.

There is not another school Noel could pick that would better prepare him for the NBA, and not another one that would give him a better opportunity to impress NBA scouts.
