Relive 50 Years of New York Mets Baseball in 30 Seconds

Ian CasselberryMay 31, 2018

Between Steven Goldman's post on how the New York Mets haven't really been good in 24 years and my take on the Frank Francisco contract today, some might think we're picking on NYC's other baseball team today.

Well, I can't speak for Steven, but I didn't really intend to pick on the Mets. I like the Mets and hold fond memories of the 1986 World Series championship team.

The two of us here at Horsehide Chronicles just both happened to write up posts that portrayed the team in a less than flattering light. It happens now and then. Wait until you see us both rip up the San Diego Padres on Thursday.

Just kidding. We're not going to do that. But again, I can't speak for Steven.

Anyway, it's likely to be a rough season for the Mets, as they look like the one NL East team that doesn't really have a shot at contention.

But there's still reason to feel good about the Mets. This season will be the 50th anniversary for the team. SNY reminds us of that with an ad for their 2012 Mets coverage. Unfortunately, we can't embed the video clip, so you'll have to click on the accompanying link.

Fifty years of Mets baseball in 30 seconds. It's hard not to get inspired watching those clips. Although I think Bobby Bonilla egging Bob Klapisch to "make your move" should've been in there. Show us the Bronx, Bobby!
