2012 NFL Draft Projections: Where the Most Athletically Gifted Players Will Land
Chances are, you probably want to know where Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Trent Richardson, Justin Blackmon and Melvin Ingram will land in the the 2012 NFL draft.
Why?
Because they're playmakers—guys that get us off our seats in the stadiums and our couches at home.
That being said, saying that the NFL is a playmaker's league is one of the most idiotic statements that's said far too often today.
What league isn't?
I'll halt my rant before it even begins. This is where those five guys will be drafted on April 26.
Andrew Luck: Indianapolis Colts
We've heard recent whispers that the Colts may actually be considering Griffin III over the Stanford icon, but I'm not buying it. It's just an act to show the media and fans they're doing due diligence.
Luck's been penciled in as the Colts franchise quarterback for a long time. He makes the most sense to be at the center of their organizational overhaul.
He's got as close to a Peyton Manning-esque grasp on complex NFL offenses as you'll see out of a college prospect and has Aaron Rodgers-like arm strength, accuracy and athleticism.
Luck's a slam dunk.
Robert Griffin III: Washington Redskins
Griffin III is the most intriguing player in this year's class bar none. His Olympic speed, pocket presence, cannon arm and quick release make him a Cam Newton-type quarterback that represents the new age of signal-callers in the NFL.
The Redskins brought in Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan via free agency as primary targets for RGIII next season.
He is a perfect, high-profile quarterback for the high-profile NFC East.
Trent Richardson: Cleveland Browns
The Browns will either go with Richardson or Justin Blackmon at No. 4 overall. It's become pretty obvious that Richardson provides greater value at that spot and will alleviate pressure from quarterback Colt McCoy.
He is a young Jamal Lewis with franchise runner written all over him.
Justin Blackmon: Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars need to provide Blaine Gabbert with some weapons. That's obvious. The team will be thrilled when the Oklahoma State star falls to them and will grab him in a heartbeat.
He's not a Calvin Johnson-esque wideout commodity, but his play on the field is strikingly similar to Anquan Boldin.
Blackmon is a guy who'll bring toughness and a hardcore demeanor to the offensive side of the ball for Jacksonville.
Melvin Ingram: Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals want to continue to build their defense to compete with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks in their division—teams with stout defensive units.
Ingram is a wild card in any alignment, as he's comfortable and can make an impact from anywhere on the field.
All of a sudden, it's not so easy to move the football against Arizona.
