Nike NFL Uniforms: Teams in No Rush to Make Radical Jersey Changes

Wes ODonnellJun 7, 2018

Notice any big changes in the new Nike NFL uniforms? Don't worry, you're not alone if you haven't.

Only the Seattle Seahawks went above and beyond in Nike's return to NFL uniforms, and the result came back with mixed reviews.

Jacksonville and Denver have made some alterations in what their primary color will ultimately be (the Jags are switching to black in 2013, and the Broncos have brought back the orange), while the Panthers have a new mark and logo—although the changes aren't drastic.

The aforementioned teams all needed some form of tweak, and a few of them still need even more. But there are also those who don't need changes, or at the very least, aren't in a rush to make any alterations.

The Oakland Raiders are often called the "Silver and Black," and the simplicity of their uniforms is part of their history.

Nike can make all the technological changes it wants, but messing with Oakland's iconic look is something it's not even crazy enough to try.

New GM Reggie McKenzie and owner Mark Davis, working with CEO Amy Trask, have their work cut out for them on the field, but they will leave the uniforms the same way Al Davis left them.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals updated their jerseys just a few years ago, and they already look pretty damn good. Throw in Nike's swag, and these uniforms are already a modern-looking take on what it is to come to the NFL.

They have no need for any alterations, and their old look—a simple red and white with a cardinal-head logo—isn't worth going back to, either.

Buffalo Bills

This team cannot change its uniforms for the next several years, according to NFL rules, but that is just fine.

Buffalo went with a lighter blue home jersey with red trim and a white helmet last year, and the look is actually pretty sharp.

The Bills, with Nike's help, can make some small adjustments if necessary, but they've already got a hit on their hands with their latest update.

Chicago Bears

Like the Raiders, the Bears favor the classics, and Nike has done well not to mess with Chicago's look.

Chicago's classic dark blue and orange is still intimidating, and there is no reason to alter a good thing.

Don't expect changes in the uniforms in Chicago any time soon.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers went back to their classic look, and it immediately paid dividends.

San Francisco's gold and maroon uniform is without question one of the best in the league, and Nike will only make it look better by leaving it alone.
