Jacksonville Jaguars Ultimate 2012 Mock Draft

Nate DunlevyJun 7, 2018

All week, I'll be doing an ultimate mock draft for each team in the AFC South. The goal is to come up with the best possible mix of realistic need-based picks for each team, assuming no trades.

On the clock today is the Jacksonville Jaguars.

No. 7 (First Round): Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

Blackmon would help the Jags meet their biggest need for 2012: determining whether Blaine Gabbert can play.

No. 38 (Second Round): Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State

The Jags struggled to protect Blaine Gabbert last year, and Adams would be an instant upgrade over Guy Whimper, who was awful.

No. 70 (Third Round): Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers

Another wideout?

The Jaguars really have no receiving weapons to speak of, so they add Sanu, who was viewed by many as an elite talent before a terrible combine performance knocked him down the board.

Some people still consider him a first-round talent, but this is probably the range in which he should be taken.

No. 101 (Fourth Round): Brandon Washington, G, Miami

Sensing a pattern yet?

The Jaguars offense was terrible, and they need to replace Will Rackley. Washington is a big man and a great run-blocker. Sounds like a Jag to me.

No. 142 (Fifth Round): Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas

The Jags could always use more edge rushers, and Bequette fits the bill. He has a torn pec muscle, so he could slide down lower than this, but he has the athleticism to get after the passer from the edge.

No. 176 (Sixth Round): Janzen Jackson, CB/S, McNeese State

Jackson is a great athlete. He's a total head case, but for a sixth-round pick, the Jags could do a lot worse than nabbing a player with big upside and a nasty disposition.

If nothing else, they can put him on special teams and let him whack people.

No. 228 (Seventh Round): Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State

It's the seventh round. The Jags should take a chance on a young arm here. Just in case Gabbert spits the bit, it's nice to be prepared.
