Want Autographs of Your Favorite New York Yankee Players?

Kevin RozellJan 19, 2009

(Zell's Pinstripe Blog)

Have you guys ever heard of through the mail (TTM) autographs? Well it’s something I thought my readers would like to know about. I know there are a lot of fans out there that enjoy collecting autographs, so this is for you guys. TTM’s change my entire collection.

TTM autographs is basically sending a letter, with a card or two to a player and hoping for a return. These players get tons of fanmail during Spring Training and the regular season, and every once in a while they sit down and sign a few items. I have gotten over 500+ autographs added to my collection this way (I only started two years ago).

It’s a great idea if you are looking to obtain autographs of some of your favorite players, and it’s not expensive. It will only cost you 84 cents! That’s right...just two stamps. If you are looking to send different items...then it will cost more. It’s not automatic that you get a return. A lot of it's luck.

I have gotten autographs of legends, rookies, all-stars, & HOFers. I have gotten some amazing successes..such as George M. Steinbrenner III, Brian Cashman, Bob Sheppard, John Sterling, Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, Johnny Damon, Mariano Rivera, & many more. Don’t expect to get any Derek Jeter autographs. Haha.

Some players refuse to sign. Many players don’t sign at all. I find that rookies and retired players autographs are much easier to obtain. Are you wondering how you get these addresses?

You send them to the stadiums and spring training facilities. You can find those addresses here, (All you need to do is sign up, and you can have access to all the stadium and spring training addresses.) or on the MLB team’s official Web site.

Once you see my collection..I’m sure you will be interested: (this is just a very small sample size of the many autographs I have gotten)

How to send a TTM

Supplies you will need:

two Envelopes (one needs to be smaller than the other to fit inside. Make sure that the envelope inside is properly addressed to yourself and has a stamp)

Stamps (I always use two..one on each envelope but it all depends on how much you are sending)

Letter

Card/Photo/Ball/or anything else you want to get signed

Address of the person you are sending to

**After the TTM is sent out please be patient. Some Players/Actors don’t get there mail right away or they are busy and can’t return them immediately. Don’t send something of value as it can be lost in the mail or not be returned.**

You may even get your autograph back a year from now..or even 20 years from now. You never know.

Some sites that I suggest you join if your interested in TTM Autographs: SportsCollectors.net & Sportsgraphing.com

With Spring Training right around the corner..it’s time to start getting ready to send some things out. I first start sending letters out on the day pitchers and catchers report. I hope to get a lot of returns this year. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments section. I hope this gets some of you involved in TTM autographs.
